PowerSaver is a great way to kick off a new out look on conservation. Here are a few ideas on how to save energy even more:
Use a push mower: All the gas it takes to mow your lawn isn’t really needed. Using a push mower will save you money on buying the gas for you mower as well as give you a great work out. Good for your wallet, good for your arms.
Bike to work: You’ … ve probably heard this one before, but more and more cities are making it easier for you to pedal to work. Check around there may be a bike rental system in your area. Usually they work like this:
You buy a membership, get a card, go to a bike stand and swipe the card, ride the bike, and return it to any bike stand through out the city.
Again, you’ll save money on gas, car upkeep, and get great workout
Buy local: By buying local products you are helping cut down on the fuel it takes transport food from across the country. In addition, when you buy local you can also buy foods that are fresher and did not have to go through a packaging process thus saving energy from factories.
Use air hand dryers: These days most public restrooms have both air and towel dryers. Go with the air dryer. You cut down on pollution from having to manufacture the towels, it cuts down on the amount of garbage generated, and even on the pollution from having to transport the towels. Plus, you get to hear that cool *whoosh* noise.
Use reusable products: Plastic bags are so over with. If you use reusable bags and other reusable products you save energy in many ways not to mention you help stop litter from spreading. One time use products need a lot of energy to be manufactured and by using them only once you insure they have to keep pumping them out.
Bonus: these days stores give you discounts for bring your on cup or bag. So ask around and always be sure to have a mug and reusable bag handy.
Take showers together: Joke! Or maybe… I mean it does cut down are water. Not to mention the energy to heat the water.
